We're here!

We're all moved in! Not totally unpacked, not decorated, not organized but IN! That's good enough for now. We just had the family room re-carpeted yesterday which was a major relief since the gentleman we bought the house from was a smoker. AND he smoked indoors, so that carpet had to GO! My hubs been busting his butt out in the yard cutting down trees and bushes with help from the bro in law.
Now my goal is to be unpacked enough that I can at least put up a Christmas tree this weekend!
Anyway, that's all for now from the country. More when we are not buried in boxes!

I am not dead

I am checking emails in between packing, yes, still. So here I am. Not crafting, not sewing, not doing much of anything besides taking care of sick kids and a husband, yes, again...and packing. In case anyone is interested I made excellent progress over the weekend which is just dandy since moving day is in about a week and the house was full of sick people. I think packing is a job that isn't done til the movers arrive. Right now I am just imagining my relief when all of this is over :)

Slacker Packer

We are moving in a month. So far I've packed a bit of the kitchen, some books, some photos, and the family games. Every day I wake up and plan to continue packing and every day concludes with no more packing completed. I seriously need to get my butt in gear. I wish I could hire professional packers and kick back and relax. Well, that IS what I've been doing but if I did it that way, shit would actually be getting done...

Little Lovelies

Just listed these little lovelies today. Somehow they had fallen through the cracks during the "separation". Well, they are here now! Phew!

Now time to move on to the packing and wrapping and packing and ugh. Procrastination is so much more fun...

Country Girl

We're moving to the country! The time has come for us to say goodbye to my hometown. I am a product of this city and its school system. But I graduated high school in 1996 and a lot has changed since then. My girls should have better. So we sold our house, found a new one and everyone is set to close in November. My head is spinning with questions like, what do I pack first, which movers do I call, how do you coordinate two closings and moving in one day?????? No wonder I am getting no rest!

Goodbye

...and he's gone. Gone home to be with his little sister Louise...

Weep Not for Me,
In Memory of a Beloved Cat

Weep not for me though I am gone into that gentle night.
Grieve if you will, but not for long upon my soul's sweet flight.
I am at peace, my souls at rest.
There is no need for tears.
For with your love I was so blessed.
For all those many years.
There is no pain, I suffer not,
The fear now all is gone.
Put now these things out of your thoughts,
In your memory I live on.
Remember not my fight for breath
Remember not the strife.
Please do not dwell upon my death,
But celebrate my life.

The cat is not doing well. I've noticed a change in him since last week (after he attacked my 2.5 year old niece, so I thought he was still well at that time). But yesterday and today it looks like he is trying hard to breathe and he's not climbing the stairs and he just doesn't look "right". The man is taking him to the vet when he gets home from work and my stomach is in knots. Langley and I have had a troubled relationship from the word go with him being inbred and extrememly vicious and all. BUT my heart is breaking for him as I think this may be the end of the road...

Everyday is like Christmas

The girl is turning three on Monday. She has become a "kid" and is no longer a "baby". I miss her when she was small. While it's exciting to watch her grow and learn (and hear the stuff that comes out of her mouth!) -it's really bittersweet because those baby days for her are gone and they'll never return. I remember thinking when I first had her that every day was like Christmas. Every day was so exciting. I enjoyed being her mother so much I looked forward to the next morning which would bring with it my next day with her. Since then, we've had another baby, plan to have more babies and she's grown up. (Though she'll always be my little peanut.) I'll always remember the first time I held her, nursed her, became a mother. And I will try harder to remember, as time goes on, and days get busier and more challenging, that every day with these kids really is like Christmas.

Newest Blocks

They came out a bit more "fallish" than I had originally intended, but overall I think they are awesome!

Moving on

So I had mentioned early on in this blog that this business of mine was a partnership between myself and a longtime friend. Yesterday we decided to part ways "professionally". Sounds much harsher than it actually was/is! Ha!
Stay tuned for info on my new shop as I venture out into this world alone! How exciting!

Oh Me Oh My

I made a tutu dress for the girl yesterday. Her 3rd birthday is in a couple weeks and I knew she would love it. I set to work with my 50 yards of tulle only to discover it wasn't nearly enough. She insisted on putting it on, hilarious, half of her covered, the other not so much! It reminded me of those masks that are part woman part man! Ha ha! She is hollering and begging me to finish it NOW! So we set off to Michaels where many more spools of tulle are purchased (I knew I would want to make another once hers was complete). We come home and after the afternoon rigmarole I sit down to finish the dress. I am so excited to give it to her. She wakes up from her nap, sees it, loves it, puts it on and promptly begins screaming that she can't see her feet and wants to wear it as a SKIRT. Ungrateful little.....so we take it off and I list it on Etsy. Now I get to make the princess (as she refers to herself) a tutu because "THAT is what she WANTS". Whatev, Ruby. I just love it and wish I had a more cooperative daughter to wear it. (Not to say my Lu isn't, but this dress would swallow that tiny peanut whole!)

I got the first two pics after asking her to tell me about Grampa pretending to be the Cookie Monster yesterday:

But THIS reflects how she REALLY feels about Mama's gift

Ain't she a sweetie? :)

Manic Sunday

I've been away. Not really away like on an honest to goodness vacation but away from this blog thing. Trying to get ready for our upcoming craft shows of which there are 9 and counting. In addition to trying to sell the house and buy a new one....today was a busy day with a last minute showing. Getting a house tip top is not easy with two little girls running around pulling out everything as soon as I've tucked it away.
My day of rest included driving around to scope out new potential habitation locations, hitting the grocery store, apple picking (which was fun of course!), hay ride, and dinner (which consisted of butternut squash lasagna and apple crisp for dessert, yum), insane amount of dirty dishes washed after that much cooking/baking, bathed the girls, story, bed. I now feel like I could fall over from exhaustion and will be retiring as soon as I hit "publish". Zzzzzzzzzzzzz

...and yes, Ruby is wearing a tutu. She wears it everywhere including to bed. Isn't there a saying about picking your battles? I choose to let her win this one daily.

Craft Show Millionaire

Yesterday we particpated in the St John's Bazaar in Townsend, MA which ended up being a bit of a bust. The way that the bazaar was set up the crafters (of which there were only FIVE! WTH?) ended up waaaayyy in the back and got very little traffic. The comment "I didn't even know there were crafters here" was made more than once. A discouraging way to start the season but we are booked pretty solid through the holidays and they can't all be that poorly planned!!
A few photos from the day~

Phew!

The sewing is done for tomorrow, well it's never actually DONE, but I feel prepared for the show now! Today will be filled with taking inventory, picking up the tent and tables and pricing items. Busy mama! I am excited for this season to get underway! Feels like Christmas!

Keep on Rockin'

Ru is sporting a new Mix Tape Barrette I made this morning. I freakin' love it but can't tell yet if it is something I will try to sell. I made one big mix tape for a bodysuit or t-shirt but my lazy ass has yet to go to the store and pick up said items to applique away....

SOLD!

...and while I am here, in happier news, these two lovelies sold the other day.

Felt Breakfast Set

Lick your plates

Just venting momentarily about the fact that we just had the plumber out here and had to replace our garbage disposal. $541 later and we're advised to put only down the disposal what we can't scrape off into the trash.....what is the point??

Bloody Sunday

I am hoping for a better day today than we had last night. Ruby decided to get up at 1:30 and scream bloody hell until after 2am. I had to remove the babe from her room and put her in mine to save her from the insanity....and of course, Ru was up right on schedule at 6am this morning announcing, "It's morning time, I'm awaaakkee." Fingers crossed for a good day (and a potential nap) as well as a good night tonight!!!! Baby sisters sharing a bedroom SUCKS! Have I already mentioned this?! ;)

POP-sicle

Thanks to the creativejar for featuring Sew Yummy's felt popsicle on her blog!

Toilet Paper Baby

Little Lucy took her afternoon nap in our bedroom yesterday because this "sisters-sharing-a-room-during-afternoon-nap" thing basically sucks. Morning nap is fine since Ruby doesn't take one and bedtime is fine since they are both usually pooped but that 1pm nap is NOT WORKING! So, yesterday I decide she will start taking that nap in my room (again, where she had slept since she was born up until about a week and a half ago). I apparently put the pack and play too close to my nightstand because little miss grabbed the roll of toilet paper I have there (kleenex be damned) and shredded it filling the bottom of her bed with TP bits and then settling down hugging the roll like it was her lovey (who she had chucked into the rubbish bin next to the nightstand).....

Roll out

Yesterday I googled "what to do with fabric scraps" and found a website with several suggestions including crayon rolls! I have seen these bad boys before and wasn't really interested but having a ton of leftover fabric, I figured what the hell! I sat down at my little sewing machine and busted out two in no time and they are actually quite adorable up close and personal! My darling Ruby got the first one (as she always thinks if I am on the machine, I am making something for her) and the other I will include with my wares at the craft shows. And I made a third today (they are all Halloween themed since that spooktacular day is coming soon)!
