Break time

....maintaining relationships is tough and sometimes not worth the headache. Agree? I know my relationships tend to be a little complicated so a clean break from any one person is almost impossible...hmmmmm...is witness protection just for victims of crimes? Is it?!?! A girl's gotta keep her sense of humor.

Sickness prevails

So, the family has the pukes AGAIN! What good fortune to be struck with the flu two times in a month, she says, her voice dripping with sarcasm. We attempted a family trip to Deerfield yesterday...we stopped halfway there for lunch at a neat little diner type place that only served vegetarian food. Great for us as we are all veg (me for almost 14 years). We order, we sit, I start to feed the baby her Gardenburger and could tell she wasn't feeling it. It was not any kind I have ever served at home before. Two bites into it and she pukes, projectile style all onto the floor and a saucer shaped amount on the thigh of my jeans. My husband goes to get the diaper bag, I clean her up and go into the bathroom to clean myself. Lunch is over. So my hub asks if I want to go home and at this point I truly think it is just a texture issue with this burger so I say no. My feeling is fueled by the fact that the baby is now begging for her older sisters toast from her veggie BLT. So off we go, start at Magic Wings and Lu is un-fazed while big sister is afraid of the butterflies. But I will give it to her because I was ALSO scared of the butterflies, there were TONS of them all flying at you at different heights, craziness. At one point, one landed on my head and I almost killed it just because my reflexes are such!! Ha! From there we head to Richardsons Candy Kitchen to satisfy Mama's sweet tooth! (And Ru's!!) A short drive around Historic Deerfield and we're off to Yankee Candle. Even then I had no clue Lu was feeling ill. We arrived and were told Santa was IN. So we headed right over, he was OUT. So we walk around killing time, I grab a few candles. Seriously, the baby was DANCING in her stroller to the music being piped in. So after an hour I say maybe we should get her (Lu) a snack because at this point she really hasn't eaten since the morning, so we wait in line, order two pretzels, a cup of grapes and a nutrigrain (all for the low price of $10) and sit down. Lu had maybe three or four bites of the bar when I thought she was choking so I grab her out of the stroller and sit her on my knee and she proceeds to projectile vomit AGAIN EVERYWHERE! Ru was screaming, "What is wrong with her?" and generally just freaking out. I am now covered on my entire left pant leg. So I hand the baby to my husband and say I am going to the bathroom. I waddle in and this woman looks at me and says don't you hate when stuff like that happens in public? And I say, Yeah, it's puke. Like, please don't think I spilled my flippin frappacinno all over myself, lady, this is barf, leave me alone. I went back to my family and we cleaned up the best we could and started the hour and a half drive back home....yup, covered in puke. And yes, in case you were wondering my husband spent most of today praising the porcelain god while I just felt like I had to. I don't pray that way. Those who know me know this. Tomorrow will tell if poor Ru will be sick again! She is terrified and I really hope she is well!

Birth-daze

Well, the little lady turned one last Friday. We had to re-schedule her party from Saturday to Sunday because of this Seattle-like weather we're having here lately. But when it was all said and done, it was great! It was a perfect summer day and she had a great time!
Now that all of that is over though, it's time to crack down and find fall craft shows and start booking! ...also time to start sewing! the stock is dwindling so there is much to be done! My husband is taking a summer class so once all of his work is turned in on Thursday I can really be serious about my "work" for the rest fo the summer. Fall is JUST around the corner!

Artfire Schmartfire

Signed up with this site today as it advertised being FREE:

But in truth only a certain number of listings are free and once you go beyond that you have to upgrade to their pro version. I feel like I wasted some serious time this afternoon as now our store is not properly represented on that site and to pull what I did post will piss me off...

Bottom line: I am not recommending it to anyone currently on Etsy unless you sell 12 or fewer items. Isn't there some saying about how if something sounds too good to be true......???

Reunions, birthday soirees, and a whole lotta felt makeup sets

Soo, family reunions aren't a ton of fun when most of your family are a bunch of strangers! Ha! But at least I got some good QT with two of my sisters (Annie & Aubrey) and my husband and kids. Food was ok but nothing to write home about. Just a another day really....and a day away from crafting! Boo!
We just got home from my niece's birthday party where ALL of her little friends put in orders for a felt eyeshadow compact. Ummm, not sure if I am going to make 5 of those bad boys out of the goodness of my heart....we'll see...I'm sure I will cuz I'm a sucker like that. The girls are napping peacefully as I type but I think I might actually rest instead of craft. What? Yeah, really.

Birds and Ice Cream

Made another onesie and burpcloth yesterday. Ruby wanted to wear the onesie. Too bad it's size 3-6 mos and she will be 3 yrs old in a few months!! I told her I would make her a T-shirt instead.

This weekend will prove to be a busy one. Visiting the grandparents today in between a ton of errands and then a family reunion tomorrow. Sunday is my niece's 8th birthday soiree. I forgot she asked for a bunch of my felt stuff and bought her an outfit and flip flops. I can't NOT give her what she asked for so she is getting more than usual this year! LOL.
This week is prep week for Lucy Belle's first birthday bash at the in-laws. I hope we have great weather!! I am pretty sad that my baby is turning one...just like I was when her big sister turned one. A year really goes fast. Never so fast as when we started having children......

"Shamily" Time Holiday Fun

Yesterday was such a great day! The weather, company, and food were all terrific! Went to the parade where the girls had a blast. Lucy was rocking out in her stroller to all the music! I was able to capture a bit of it on the camera as a video. My niece Kaylee marched with her brownie troop. Ruby's highlight of the parade was the "fire", which was some truck with fire pouring out of it's exhaust pipes when we were walking toward the parade...we were a little late! Oops!
Then home to cookout, L'il Aubz played chef...and everything was great! Veggie dogs for us and real hot dogs for the carnivores. Scallops and shrimp on the grill, potato salad, macaroni salad, tossed salad, does it get any better?! Ha! The weather really couldn't have been more perfect. It was warm but not sweltering, no humidty, blue skies, ahhhhhh. The girls were able to splash in the little pool. Mama had a few cocktails and RELAXED. We finished with s'mores and homemade blueberry pie ala mode. YUM.
I love my "shamily" as Ruby would say...:) I hope everyone else had as great a day as we did!!!

Happy Fourth!

Last night we attempted to go to Fitchburg's "Block Party". It poured. We had to wait in the car as soon as we arrived to wait out the rain. Then once we were there it poured again! We found shelter under the awning of a building but the super splashes SOAKED our pants! Then something bit me on the back of my shoulder causing some pretty intense burning. It was so bad I didn't care that my mother was lifting up my shirt in public and rubbing all over my back to see if the creature was still in there!! Ruby was screaming, "I am afraid of these people, don't put me down!" Good Lord. We lasted almost an hour......put the girls to bed, hit the packie with Mum, and then watched the fireworks with my love from the front of our house. Actually worked out to be a pretty sweet evening. Now off to the parade and a cookout here for lunch. I'm sure there will be much to blog about later!
Everyone, have a safe and happy 4th!

Stir crazy

Yeah.....it's STILL raining. This morning I made a little girls necktie onesie. Pretty sweet but they are a little tricky to keep straight. I don't know if I am going to make more or not.

Word on the street is that the sun will make an appearance tomorrow. I hope to at least see it on the Fourth. Unreal that it is already July and feels like April. Not to mention my little Lu will be one on the 17th and that just makes me sad!! :( Where does the time go, people?!? I have to hustle and get the invitations out for her soiree. Slacking big time. I did find the cutest fiesta colored watering cans at Christmas Tree as part of the party favors. Maybe that's what I should be doing instead of this? Off to address invitations.......
